IBM has launched two new software products, watsonx.data integration and watsonx.data intelligence, to simplify how enterprises handle large volumes of unstructured data is essential for generative and agentic AI. These tools are designed to support data management across hybrid environments, consolidating fragmented systems into a more unified, flexible stack.
The new tools respond to the increasing demand for more accurate and efficient AI outcomes, especially as unstructured data, often trapped in formats like emails, PDFs, and videos, accounts for up to 90% of enterprise data. IBM reports that this data, if better utilized, could improve AI performance significantly. Enhancements like the AI analytics agent watsonx BI and integration of high-performance computing features such as Gluten Accelerated Spark aim to further optimize data use. John Clark, Senior Vice President of Technology and Strategic Innovation at Lockheed, commented, "We are rapidly accelerating our innovation and efficiency to get solutions out of the lab and into the field, helping create a safer, more secure world." Additionally, IBM's partnership with Meta’s Llama Stack and its integration of technologies from its DataStax acquisition are expected to broaden the reach and functionality of watsonx across enterprise environments.
